Fort Worden Public Development Authority

The City of Port Townsend established the Fort Worden Public Development Authority (PDA) to manage, promote, develop, secure funding, and enhance the Fort Worden State Park and establish a Lifelong Learning Center at the park as envisioned by the 2008 Fort Worden Long-Range Plan. The PDA leases and manages a large section of Fort Worden State Park.

The Mayor of Port Townsend, with the concurrence of the City Council, appoints the members of the PDA Board of Directors. The Board of Directors overseas the PDA activities and establishes and implements PDA policy. The Board of Directors also appoints the Executive Director who manages the day-to-day affairs of the PDA. The size of the PDA board is between seven and eleven members.

The City is seeking individuals to serve as  board members for 3-year terms. For more information on Board of Directors responsibilities, please see the job description. More information about the governance of the PDA can be found in the PDA charter and in the Port Townsend Municipal Code Section regarding the PDA
