PRESS RELEASE- City Arts Commission Announces Grant Funding for 2026
PTAC grant program seeking proposals for funding local arts projects.
February 9, 2026 PORT TOWNSEND – The City of Port Townsend Arts Commission (PTAC) is inviting proposals for 2026 grant funding. Grants are available from PTAC for arts activities that serve both residents and visitors to Port Townsend and Jefferson County, and may be used for a variety of arts and culture projects in any medium or format that is accessible to the public.
The Arts Commission's mission is to facilitate public arts programs that enhance the cultural life of community residents.
Port Townsend Arts Commission grants will be awarded in three rounds in 2026 with $30,000 available. There is $13,500 available in the first round, $9,000 available in the second round, and $7,500 available in the third round for artists and arts organizations. Deadlines are February 19, May 21, and August 20, respectively. The Arts Commission encourages applicants from all backgrounds and practices to apply. PTAC-funded events are those that bring the arts to the public. This can include performances, exhibitions, talks, screenings, or arts educationrelated public projects. Each project must be publicly accessible and have at least one paywhat-you-wish event or free entry. First-time applicants are encouraged to apply.
“PTAC supported 19 creative projects and programs from across East Jefferson County in 2025and is excited to see all the incredible work artists in our community doing this year,” says Katy Goodman, the City’s Arts and Culture Coordinator and the PTAC staff liaison. “Because PTAC grants can go to individual artists, they open the door for many who might not be eligible for other funding, which makes this program an important source of support for the local arts ecosystem.”
PTAC is dedicated to supporting artists and cultural events that have a significant connection to the city, and events that promote public awareness of and interest in our creative community. Interested applicants can find an informational webinar on the City’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/@CityofPortTownsend and find the grant guidelines, applicant portal, and full schedule of application deadlines on the City’s website. Katy Goodman also holds office hoursfor artists at the Port Townsend Public Library from 12:00-2:00 every Thursday for in-person questions or help with applications.
