Housing for All

As I’m sure many of  you know, our community suffers from a profound lack of affordable and attainable housing, and shelter in all forms. While we do our best to work together to make progress on our most urgent needs, we also need to plan ahead together for the future.

That’s why it’s important to get your perspectives on the Draft Jefferson County 2025-2030  Homeless & Affordable Housing Services Plan.  The plan is being developed by a Housing Task  Force of the Joint City/County Housing Fund Board.

The plan contains strategies and actions that aim to lay a strong foundation for the long-term, reducing homelessness and housing insecurity. It focuses on five main objectives:

  • Strengthening the homeless service provider workforce.
  • Promoting an equitable, accountable, and transparent homeless crisis response system.
  • Prioritizing assistance based on the greatest barriers to housing stability and the greatest risk of harm.
  • Preventing episodes of homelessness whenever possible.
  • Seeking to house everyone in a stable setting that meets their needs.

Read the draft plan here, provide comments, and attend related City and County meetings.  You can also join me at my next community coffee conversation to talk about this or anything else.  The next coffee meeting is on November 7 from 9-10:30am at Marina Café.
