Hearing-impaired Information
If you are hearing impaired and utilize a Telephone Device for the Deaf (TDD)/Text Telephone (TTY) and you need to dial 9‑1‑1, do so using you TDD/TTY device. The Port Townsend Police Department contracts for services with Jefferson Communications Dispatch Center and they are equipped to handle calls placed by TDD or TTY devices. Once you have made the call and it is answered immediately begin the process of typing. The TDD / TTY system is integrated into the dispatcher's computer screen and your typed dialogue will be displayed on the dispatcher's screen and they will be able to start communicating with you right away.
