Hancock Park

General Location:
Located at the intersection of 12th St. and Hancock St.
General Description:
A small parcel of mature forest with a robust exterior buffer of native and introduced shrubs.
History:
As a part of the development of Seaport Landing (now Avamere), Mountain West LLC deeded the property to the City of Port Townsend as open space, with the intent that the property would become a park.
In 2020, community input on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Plan requested more park space in the neighborhood around 12th and Hancock St. This spear headed the plan to develop the park.
Native trees would not be removed for this project. The City will remove the trees that have already been blown down over the years by severe winds and will investigate creative options to use wood from those trees in the park. Trails and surfacing for playground will be ADA compliant, the park will be accessible in multiple locations, and benches along trails will offer rest spots.
