This page contains descriptions of our most-used City Parks and Facilities. Other facilities within the City limits that are not owned or maintained by the City are: portions of the Larry Scott Memorial Trail, Jefferson County Fairgrounds, North Beach Park, Fort Worden State Park and Conference Center, Memorial Field, Port Townsend Community Center, Rothschild House, and Courthouse Park.

 

Chetzemoka Park

Chetzemoka Park – is considered by many to be the crown jewel of the Port Townsend Park system. It is a 10+-acre park located on Jackson Street between Garfield Street and Roosevelt Street and overlooks Admiralty Inlet with a commanding view of the Cascade Mountains. It is a highly developed park with flower gardens and plantings, bandstand, picnic areas, picnic and kitchen shelter, play equipment and ADA accessible restrooms. Kah Tai Lagoon

Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park – is an 80-acre natural area located in the center of Port Townsend. The main entrance to the park is located on 12th Street between Haines Place and Sims Way.  It encompasses 25 acres of open water, 15 acres of wetlands, and 40 acres of uplands. It contains many walking paths, picnic benches, play equipment and restrooms. It is an excellent area for bird and wildlife viewing.
 


Skateboard Park

The Port Townsend Skateboard Park is located at Monroe Street between Washington & Jefferson Streets. This world class park was designed and built by Dreamland Skateparks and opened in May of 2006.  The facility has advanced deep bowls, rails, a beginner section, drinking fountain and a “sani-can” style toilet facility.  The park is located downtown within walking distance of shops and restaurants. 
 


Pope Marine Park

Pope Marine Park – is a 1.2 acre waterfront park located in the downtown on Water Street between Madison Street and Monroe Street. There are picnic areas, play equipment and a building used for gatherings, meetings and art and cultural events. The building may be reserved by calling 344-3055.
 


City Dock

City Dock, floating dock is available for transient recreational moorage on a first come, first served basis during the summer months.  24 hour maximum moorage is free of charge for recreational and non profit vessels.  Commercial vessels should call 360-344-3055 for assistance.  The dock is located downtown on Madison Street.
 


Adams Street Park

Adams Street Park – is a small .25-acre waterfront parcel located downtown on the corner of Adams Street and Water Street. It has a picnic bench, seasonal flowerbeds and plantings. Residents and tourists use it alike as a spot to rest and view the water.


Union Wharf

Union Wharf – was reconstructed in 1997. The facility sits in the central downtown business district on Taylor Street.  The new dock features a timber-framed, open-air structure and a floating dock that makes the dock accessible to transient boaters. This dock is built to accommodate larger vessels and is an excellent facility for commercial boats as well as for tourists. The dock may be reserved by calling 344-3055  
 


Terrace Steps and Haller Fountain

Terrace Steps and Haller Fountain - is a .1 acre landscaped staircase for foot traffic only. It is located on Taylor Street between Washington Street and Jefferson street and connects the upper and lower sections of the central part of the City. The statue is a replica of the birth of Venus. Plans are now under way for improvements as a memorial to Parks employee the late Steve Corra
 


Bell Tower

Bell Tower – was built in 1890 and was used for fire calls. It is located between Jefferson Street and the Bluff on Tyler Street and has benches for viewing the spectacular vistas of Port Townsend Bay and the downtown district. The Bell Tower had significant restoration in 2003. 
 


Sather Park

Sather Park – is a 4.9-acre park located on Morgan Hill.  The main trail into the park is located on Adams Street between Cosgrove Street and Foster Street.  Other than a series of un-maintained trails the park remains undeveloped. It serves as a green space buffer in a densely populated neighborhood.


Bobby McGarraugh Park

Bobby McGarraugh Park – is a 2-acre park site, formerly a City owned gravel pit, located on Cherry Street between Q Street and R Street. The park contains a grass area; picnic shelter and children’s play equipment.
